What School District Human Resource Professionals Need to Know

As the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSERS) funding expires in September 2024, and with those funds used to retain specialized teachers (STEM, english-language-learner, special education) school officials have questions about the possibility of furloughs, as a result.

Pennsylvania Education Lawyers Lane and DiMascio
Lane and DiMascio discussed the four primary furlough categories, and reviewed the fifth justification regarding economic reasons, which was added in 2017. They reviewed the reasons, required process, timeline and resolutions involved in furloughs, and stressed the importance of following the School Code rules.
